The Four Greatest Instances of the Word “Fuck” in a Song

I have a love-love relationship with the word “fuck”.  I say it entirely too much.  I try not to, but I just can’t seem to help it.  Sometimes it is necessary.  There songs show just how brilliant the power of “fuck” can be.

4. Medicine for the People “Manifesto”

I love this band.  They are so positive and inspiring.  I’ve listened to them every day since I discovered them.  This was the first song I heard Nahko say “fuck” in and it caught me completely off-guard.  Just a reminder, even the ones that inspire us, are just like us — potty mouth and all.

“Let’s just face it, the world’s fuckin’ racist. Even the most peaceful of us gets caught in the trend.  To live cohesively is almost a fantasy, and we oughta  know it starts with humbling our egos.”

3. Mumford & Sons “Little Lion Man”

I don’t actually like Mumford & Sons.  Well, that isn’t fair to say… I just haven’t listened to them much.  The guitar strumming in this song got my attention one day while I was driving.  I found it on YouTube when I got home that day.  The emotion in this song just isn’t the same when it’s edited.

“But it was not your fault but mine, and it was your heart on the line.  I really fucked it up this time, didn’t I, my dear?”

2. Alice in Chains “Heaven Beside You”

The Unplugged version of this song is why it’s number two on this list.  The use of the word “fuck” was good, but Jerry Cantrell’s face when he says it the first time during this performance is beautiful.  He makes this face with his lips and eyes, and I don’t know why, but I just love it. I always replay that part a few times when I watch this performance.  True story.

“So there’s problems in your life… That’s fucked up, and I’m not blind. I’m just see-through faded, super jaded, out of my mind.”

1. Radiohead “Creep”

You already knew this would be number one, right?!  I mean… Have you ever heard the edited version? It. Fucking. Sucks.

“You float like a feather in a beautiful world.  I wish I was special.  You’re so fucking special.  But I’m a creep.  I’m a weirdo.  What the hell am I doing here?  I don’t belong here.”
